“Lana’s” Artist Biography

Alana J. Bolden, stage name “Lana” was born September 11, 2005.  She started singing and dancing at the early age of 3 years old.  She loves Pop and R&B music influenced by many legendary artists like Whitney Houston and Lala Hathaway among others.   As a toddler, Alana would listen to her mom sing and has loved to sing ever since.  Alana is a very shy girl but in front of the microphone she rocks and sings.  She’s never been the type to want to sing in front of others so easily and quickly, but she always enjoys doing what she LOVES!  Whether at home, school, shopping in stores or walking through area malls, you can find her humming and singing everywhere.

On June, 18, 2016 Alana and her parents met with the organizer of the Road To The Apollo Theater Tour Captain Newborn of Next Level Veterans for her first ever audition.  From July 3, 2016 to August 20, 2016 at 10 years old, Alana won all of her Kid’s Division Road To The Apollo Theater Tour competitions.  Singing her cover of Tori Kelly’s “Paper Hearts”, she was awarded an all expense paid trip to audition at the World Famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York.  During her Apollo audition on September 24, 2016 she covered Tori Kelly’s “Paper Hearts” and “Hollow” and has been invited back July 19, 2017 to perform LIVE and compete in their Kid’s Stars Of Tomorrow Showcase!

Her mom and dad taught her how to write songs and with their support, she now writes her own.  Alana says this amazing line “I was also inspired by my dad as a youngster.”  “He was always rapping and would create music tracks with me.”  One song she has written not long ago is “If You Were Me.”  “My parents were then and are now the ones who keep me confident about myself”, she says.  She also confesses that, “If You Were Me”, “is a song about the everyday challenges others go through and how they should not be affected by what others say about them.”

Alana believes bullying needs to stop because victims have feelings too.  She says, “They have to live their lives and are who they were born to be.”  “Bullies hurting others feelings won’t get them anywhere if they keep being mean.”  It is Alana’s sincere hope that her song will inspire victims of bullying to have the self-confidence to believe in themselves as she does and inspire those that bully others to stop.
